Who Are We?

The Ale Bar is a producing and receiving theatre located in London.  We want to maintain the trust and confidence of our audience, participants and supporters as well as visitors to our website by ensuring you fully understand the way that we use your data.

Our Privacy Policy gives you detailed information on when and why we collect your personal information, how we use it, how we keep it secure and how long we keep it for.  It also explains how you can control the data we hold, including how to update your information when it changes.

Any information you provide us with helps us to deliver a more personalised experience and smoother ticket buying process.


How we collect your data


When you engage with us as an audience member  or Taking Part participant, we collect your information. This could be when you purchase a ticket or a membership, , sign up to course or sign up to our mailing list, either online or in person or on the telephone.

Collection of personal images

We use CCTV in and around our premises for monitoring and security purposes in line with CCTV guidelines. All images are wiped after 7days.     We will not undertake any filming or photography in any public area of our premises conducted by ourselves or a visiting company hiring the venue without first obtaining consent from the public visiting the venue.   Any filming by us or visiting companies and their representatives will be announced at point of sale of any tickets either online or in person and on all publicity material.  Any person not wishing to be captured on film or in a photo has the right to ask not to be captured on such a device.  The venue has a total ban on any filming or photography where the performer or audience members are aged under 18.

Date of birth, Ethnic origin, age, disability, bank details for direct debit as this is handled by a secure third party.

Third party source

We do not collect data from visiting companies using our venue and make it clear at point of sale for any tickets purchased, if the tickets are being bought via a external ticket source.  At present we only allow two such ticket sources which are Eventbrite and WEGOTTICKETS.  We have no access to any data collected by these companies and you should refer to the ticketing site or the visiting company on how this information is used.

Social Media

We use facebook, twitter and Instagram to notify  users of our activities and events.   All three have privacy settings which are available to use.  We have a facebook page , twitter page and Instagram  which requires the public to opt in to receive notifications from us direct to them.  If you no longer wish to recieve information from us, please unfollow or remove our feeds. 

Information to third party sources

We do not give information to any third party source unless to stop fraud or a criminal offence happening or at the request of a court order or warrent.   All information held electronically has restricted pass word access with access given at present to Harry Denford and Larissa Turkina only (These are the directors and owners of the company)

Credit checks, company checks passports, ID and DBS disclosers

We  carry out on occasions credit checks on customers or those wishing to defer payment for services we offer.  We also sometimes undertake enhanced company checks for those wishing to hire our venue.   We also keep current records in paper form of all staff who require a DBS check and hold this information while the staff member is employed in the company.   We request on occasions to see a person's DBS but do not record the information or retain a copy of the certificate if the person does not take up employment with us.   We also hold paper proof of employment status via a copy of  a passport, NI card and rights to work in the UK.   This information is sometimes supplied electronically and we print the information and then delete the email it was sent from.  This information is held on all employees or sub contractors and is not destroyed after they have left employment or the contract has finished and is held on paper only.  On occasion we ask employees and contractors to update this information when all previous paper record held are destroyed.    We also hold bank details of current contractors and employees and these are held electronically and removed once a contractor or employee is no longer within our service.  These bank details are held only on our secure HSBC commercial bank website only and used for payments only.

Every email we send to you will include details on how to change your communications preferences or unsubscribe from future communications.

You can  request full details of personal information we hold about you under the Data Protection Act 1998, or after 25 May 2018, The General Data Protection Regulation, by contacting the Data Team.
